Our second “BOCHK – Green Monday Carnival” was held on July 12, 2014 at Hong Kong Science Park. The Carnival had over 50 booths, ranging from environmental educational activities, games, environmental products, and vegetarian food. Green Monday Ambassadors Super Girls, Evelyn Choi, Shaopin Tsui and SimC performed and enjoyed the carnival with the public.
Green Monday partnered with famous make-up artist, Annie G. Chan, plus a world-class crew and well-known artists to carry out an unprecedented exhibition called “Enlighten Our Green Senses”. We hope to inspire audiences to have a new perspective on green living, and start their baby steps to go green after being “enlightened”.
Our 2nd Anniversary Gala Dinner was held at Eaton Hotel, Hong Kong on April 22, 2014. It marked one of the highlights of our citywide campaign “Let’s Green Monday” in April. Led by the Guest of Honor, Dr. Ko Wing Man (高永文), Secretary for Food and Health, and the representative of our title sponsor Great Eagle Holdings Ltd., all guests pledged to Green Monday at this special occasion.
Since September 2013, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) continuously showed their support to Green Monday and launched many green diet and low carbon living activities on their campus. On April 12th 2014, we’ve organized a community outreach event with CUHK “Green buddies” to distribute over 300 meal boxes to elderly and under privileged people.
April 22nd, 2014 is Earth Day as well as the 2nd anniversary of Green Monday. We are delighted to see a new trend and culture of healthy and environmental-friendly living in Hong Kong, particularly on promoting the general public to join the global vegetarian movement.
The green dining trend is here but many people lack the information when it comes to finding a restaurant with good vegetarian dishes. Hence, Mr. David Yeung, a 13-year vegetarian and the Co-Founder of Green Monday launched《Go Green 餐廳88間》, a book that recommends top 88 veggie friendly restaurants in Hong Kong.
Bupa has partnered with Green Monday to launch the “綠人幫・幫健康” campaign for promoting healthy and green diet to the general public. A mobile Bupa Green Café drove across different districts in Hong Kong and distributed 7,000 vegetarian lunch boxes. The innovative vegetarian dishes were created by Jacky Yu, the founder of Xi Yan Hong Kong.
Café de Coral was the first fast food chain that introduced Green Monday menu in 2012. As a pioneer in the F&B industry, eight more brands under the Café de Coral Group will join Green Monday as a partner to promote healthy and environmental-friendly living in Hong Kong.
The Official kick-off ceremony of HKU Goes Green Monday was held at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) campus on March 18. This means that starting from today, all ELEVEN catering outlets on HKU campus will be serving an extra benevolent vegetarian menu on Mondays.
The “Green Monday School Program” was officially launched on October 8, 2014, which was a significant milestone for Green Monday. Together with school caterer, Sailing Boat Catering Management Limited, Green Monday option will be available on every Monday at 74 primary schools and 32 secondary schools for 80,000 students.
