Matt is the President for Mercy For Animals. He used to serve as Director of Investigations for the organisation, working closely with investigators to obtain video footage and other evidence of animal abuse at factory farms, hatcheries and slaughterhouses. Matt also worked with attorneys, veterinarians, and animal welfare experts to draft criminal complaints and secure animal cruelty convictions against individuals and facilities that abuse animals. Investigations by MFA have led to raids of factory farms, rescues of abused and neglected farmed animals, passage of landmark anti-cruelty legislation, corporate animal welfare policy reforms, and millions of people’s hearts and minds opened to the power of food choices to create a kinder world. Matt is a former US marine and holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and anthropology from the University of Colorado.

Rebecca is responsible for overseeing MGM’s environmental management programme, specifically managing projects for energy and water conservation, waste and recycling, green building, green procurement and stakeholder engagement. She works across departments from Hotel Operations, to F&B, to Design and Development, to Procurement in an effort to integrate sustainability considerations into operations. Sustainable food production and consumption is a huge passion of hers both personally as a vegetarian, and professionally Rebecca aims to catalyse change through engaging MGM’s F&B team and in working closely with procurement to choose products that are better for the environment and society. Prior to working at MGM, Rebecca was a management consultant in PwC’s Sustainability & Climate Change practices in London and Sydney, assisting multinationals in their sustainability strategy development and programme roll out.

Ellie is currently Head of Sustainability at New World Development, where she launched and drives the “New World Sustainability Vision 2030” across all major Group companies. Ellie leads the Group’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting, risk management, environmental management, and green financing initiatives. Also serving as General Manager – Sustainability at K11 Group Limited, Ellie supports Hong Kong and Mainland China property projects from planning to customer experience design. Previously, Ellie was the Asia Pacific Coordinator of the “HSBC Water Programme”, a USD100m global partnership which invests in freshwater and sanitation projects to improve livelihoods. She also has experience in sustainability management in the REIT sector, environmental and health policy research, as well as UNFCCC Clean Development Mechanism carbon credit project advisory. Vivian is a full-time athlete on the Hong Kong fencing team. She is a 2016 Rio Olympian, NCAA champion, and current world #6 rank women’s epee fencer. She became a pescetarian in college and decided to turn vegan in 2017. As a plant-fuelled athlete, she hopes to show how good she feels and prove that she is stronger than before. Vivian is now training for the 2020 Olympics, finishing her masters in Chinese Law, and she will be starting her Juris Doctor this fall.
