Back in 2012, in order to promote sustainable eating, Green Monday and Sailing Boat Catering Management Ltd collaborated to promote “Green Monday School Meals”, which encouraged over 80,000 students to consume vegetarian dishes at least one day per week. And starting in November 2013, a “Double Green Monday” project was launched. The purpose of this new project is to add another meaning to Monday – “Zero Leftovers Day” to encourage students to not leave left overs from their meals.
For this event, Ms. Wan, nutritionist from Sailing Catering Management Ltd guided students and parents on how to choose nutritious foods. Green Monday’s Executive Director, Ms. Janis Chan, shared the effects of our eating habits on the environment. In addition, Ms. Alvina Chan, founder of CookConnect, taught students and parents on creating various nutritious and delicious dishes using basic food ingredients along with left over groceries from the market that was accumulated by the Hong Kong Federation of Women’s Centres.
